School Counseling Services
A school counselor's primary role is to advocate and support academic success for all students. In order to do so, the counselor works collaboratively with students, staff, and parents to create a caring school environment and provide developmentally appropriate counseling services. These services support the personal, social/emotional, academic, and career development of students. The goal of school counseling is to have a solution focused approach to addressing student issues that impact learning while at school. Should you have any concerns regarding your student's success at school, please feel free to contact the counselor.

Classroom Guidance Lessons
Guidance lessons are taught to students in their classrooms throughout the course of the school year. These lessons provide strategies and concepts that help students find success at school. The goal of each guidance lesson is to provide students with at least one tool that they can utilize at school and that will positively impact them academically, personally, or socially.
Small Group Counseling
In some cases, a child's needs are best met through small group counseling. In small group counseling, the students work together to achieve a common goal or address a common need or concern. The counselor facilitates the groups and strives to provide the students with strategies that will aid in their future success.
Individual Counseling
In a school setting, a school counselor conducts brief solution focused counseling which addresses individual student needs with a few brief sessions. The school setting is separate from a private counseling setting which may span a greater length of time and include a treatment plan agreed upon by the parent and counselor. The goal of school counseling is to address issues which impact student learning while at school. If you feel your child's needs would be better addressed in the private counseling environment, the school counselor has a referral list of outside resources that can be provided.
