Programs Offered at DWE
Core Essentials
At Winborn we participate in the Core Essentials program in order to create a school culture that supports positive behavior and character development among our students. By addressing a specific character trait each month, students are encouraged to demonstrate these characteristics in their daily lives. By recognizing essential character traits, we are positively impacting our school environment and encouraging students to spread these traits within our community as well.
KEYS
KEYS (Keep Encouraging Youth toward Success) is a district program in which adults can apply to mentor students on elementary, junior high, or high school campuses. Students who are involved in the program may also be eligible for a KEYS scholarship. Love and Logic
This is a parenting program designed to provide practical tools and techniques in order to build positive, healthy relationships with children. For more information about this approach and parenting classes that are offered by Katy ISD please click the link below.
PALS
The Katy Independent School district has a very special mentoring program called PALS, Peer Assistance Leadership Skills. Our school has been fortunate enough to be paired with PALS from Morton Ranch High School who will act as mentors to selected students at Winborn Elementary. These high school students have met eligibility through training standards and participated in a selection process to become one of these dynamic peer leaders.
Winborn students are nominated for this program by DWE staff members. Students are chosen for PALS based on a variety of reasons. PALS are considered an extra cheerleader, a role model, a support system, an encourager, an listening ear, and so much more.

Eagle Guides
Eagle Guides is a program specific to Winborn Elementary in which members of our staff mentor students on our campus. Eligibility is determined by DWE staff members and parent/guardian permission is obtained prior to student participation. The goal of the Eagle Guide program is to provide an additional mentor opportunity for eligible students with the intent of building a positive relationship with a member of our staff.
